Construction is underway on the Roland Parrish Career Center, a new building on the campus of Fisk University. The nearly 10,000 sq. ft. facility will offer classrooms, conference space, and offices helping Fisk’s students plan for careers after graduation. Here’s the quick rundow:

Development Rundown
Roland Parrish Career Center
- What’s Now: Empty lot
- What’s Next: University Career Center
- Owner: Fisk University
- Architect: Orcutt Winslow
- Civil: Catalyst Design Group
- Location: 1633 Jackson Street
- Capacity: ~9,500 sq. ft. available space
- Contractor: Certified Construction Services
The site plan calls for a main multi-purpose room at the front of the building on the ground floor, and easy exit points blend the space smoothly with the outdoor patio. A second, smaller meeting space on the upper floor features a terrace overlooking the grounds below. Other proposed spaces include nine offices, a conference room, and amenity space. The site is located on the eastern edge of campus, butting up to residential zoning. The seamless tie-in of the sidewalk into the main patio space will give an open, inviting tone to the project.

The project came to fruition due to a donation, one of the largest in Fisk’s history, from the building’s namesake Roland Parrish, a businessman and philanthropist living in Dallas. His charity, the Parrish Charitable Foundation, supports a variety of causes in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Area, as well as a medical clinic in Uganda. Here is a look at updated construction progress.
