The development represents another multifamily project by Nashville-based Chartwell Residential. The developer has projects both proposed and ongoing in Midtown, MetroCenter, and Marathon Village to name a few. The project also joins a growing list of development projects along the popular West End Avenue corridor.

A request has been submitted to rezone the collection of properties from RM40 to SP zoning which is also located in the Long Boulevard Urban Design Overlay District. Once approved, the request will permit the 100 multi-family residential units, on the 0.78 acre site. The request was made by Catalyst Design Group on behalf of the developer. Here’s the quick rundown:

The project consists of two buildings which span the alley between Acklen Park Drive and Hillcrest Place. Plans show that the project will feature a mix of 1&2 bedroom units. Additionally, the plans indicate that both buildings will feature rooftop amenities, with the pool deck shown on the 5-story structure.

The 5-story building is located at the of corner Acklen Park Drive & Hillcrest Place. The ground floor of this building primarily consists of the parking level with access from Hillcrest Place. The leasing center anchors the corner of the building and conceals the parking garage level.
The 7-story building is situated at the corner of Hillcrest Place and the public alley. Similar to the other building, the ground floor primarily consists of parking. However, amenity spaces are proposed along the ground floor and also conceals the parking level. The ground floor of both buildings is capped by residential units and features a bridge connector on the upper floors above the alley.

Major Site improvements include new sidewalks along Hillcrest Place, which will transition it from what is now essentially an access road. It includes new trees, landscape buffer, and on-street parking. There’s also new landscaping proposed along the border of the two buildings.
